Hi,
There is a question I had regarding a statement made in Books Online:
"Log records for data modifications record either the logical operation performed or before and after images of the modified data."
My question is: who decides which one is recorded: the logical operation or before and after images? Is there an option in the database to allow the DBA to choose one or the other? Is it controlled by SQL Server itself? And should it be an option, what is the benefit of one or the other?

The server decides this and the DBA has no control over this.
