Log Shipping to named instance

    Hi all,

    has anyone implemented SQL 2000 Log Shipping to another SQL 2000 non-default instance?

    I'm trying to register the destination server in my EM, and when I put the SERVERNAME\INSTANCENAME, SQL server is not detecting the instance.

    Any feedback would be appreciated.

    Any firewalls between you & the server? If there is more than one instance on the server, subsequent instances will be listening on different TCP ports (dynamic by default - should be set to a static port). That port & UDP 1434 will need to be allowed through the firewall.

    Try,

    SERVERNAME\INSTANCENAME,1433
