  Could you also set the failover to the mirror to be manual? I.E. a DBA has to initiate the failover.

  Yes. The issue comes with autofailover, although you will still be getting a mirroring message I think that the primary is offline when the cluster fails over.

  I am currently reading "Pro SQL Server 2005 High Availability", by Allan Hirt, and I just got to chapter 14 on designing high availability solutions - and the exact same scenario of a Cluster with a Mirror is discussed.
