I have a production 2000 box and a dev 2005 box.Business want t-log shipping to be done between these two boxes. Is it possible? They also want to use the standby server for queriying purposes.
I was of the belief that we could not do t-log shipping from 2000 to 2005,also I thought the standby server had to be in norecovery mode for t-log shipping to work.
Is it possible to deliver what the business wants in this case?If so can any one of you guys let me know how it can be done?

Yes. its not possible. Querying is not possible in Log shipping as the server is in standby mode (norecovery mode). But for your scenario I would do a transactional replication from 2000 to 2005 and let users use the replicated database for reporting. Check replication topologies in this articles.

You cannot perform log shipping from Sql Server 2000 to Sql Server 2005 and hence that option is ruled out. Refer the below link where similar topic was discussed few days back,
