Log Rescue

  • Is anyone familiar with a log rescue tool similar to Red Gate's Log Rescue, but for SQL 2k5 or 2k8?

    🙂 Big Sam

  • There are three I know of.

    Apex Sql Log Reader

    Lumigent Log Explorer

    Quest Log Reader

None of them are free. I don't know the price of the quest one, but when I check the other two some months back they were around $1000 per instance.

What do you need it for?

Looks like Lumigent doesn't just sell Log Explorer anymore, no idea on Quest.

  • I didn't find much on Lumigent either.

Does Red Gate have a similar tool for SQL 2k5 & 8? (I've got the Credit Card ready.)

I looked @ the Apex product - there is a free 14 day evaluation. I found it very complicated relative to the Red Gate tool. Since it isn't a tool I intend to use very often, I'd like something I don't need a refresher course on every emergency.

No. From what I heard, they found it not commercially viable, hence the reason it was never updated from 2000 and why it's now free.

You didn't answer my question. What do you need this for?
