Locking behavior question

    Hello Everyone,

    This is a simple question:

    Is SQL Server 2000 always take an IX Tab lock on a table when there is a X lock taken on a finer granularity resource (like a Key) on the same table?

    The answer is yes. But I was a little confuse about locking compatibility and locking granularity.

    I found all answers to all my questions in the "End-to-End Solution Book" called: "Hands-On SQL Server 2000 Troubleshooting: Locking and blocking".

    A clear and great "book" by Kalen Delamey.
