Reading the article I had posted should have led you to http://blogs.msdn.com/slavao/archive/2006/11/13/q-a-does-sql-server-always-respond-to-memory-pressure.aspx. In this article it discusses the same thing that Gail has just emphasized. Reading this article should have generated some pause which could have directed this thread in a more constructive direction.

Talk to your System Administrators, they should be able to tell what other applications, if any, are installed on the server.

How long does it take to open Start - > All programs on the Windows Server. That would give me a first hand info on what's installed, and then as Gus has mentioned, I would see Task Manager to look what's hitting my server hard with respect to Memory and Processor ....
