I enabled my SQL Server 2000 to use C2 auditing. I would like to take a look at the file it generates. BOL says the location should be in the \MSSQL\Data directory for default instances, but I see nothing there besides by database files. Does anyone know what this file would be named or what file type it would be?

Did you stop and restart the SQL Server service?

The service has been stopped by rebooting (our network admin needed to put on some patches) several times since I turned on the C2 option.

I would verify whether C2 auditing is enabled.

You're right - it is not actually running. I thought I had configured it properly but I guess I didn't. Now I feel silly. But what format would the file be in? Is it .trc?

It is trace file with date and time, such as audittrace_20031208144551.trc.
