Litle apps in MS Access 2000 to MS Access 2003

  • Hi all,

We have a few litle apps in MS Access 2000, but we're now under other MS Licence Plan and all users use MS Access 2003.

This apps use mdw to control users and use switchboards runing a few scripts, macros, reports, forms, exports... interacting with other applications like iSeries Client Access, Lotus Notes, etc.

Now this apps shows security warning windows on start with MS Access 2003 for a few features.

Exists a quick way to config new security or groups manager for MS Access 2003, or fast create signatures for this VBA Apps... just for fix all this messages.

    Thanks.

  • Basically, no.

You either need to set the macro security to Low ( NOT recommended) so that all programs will run without checking or you need a digital signature.

Simplest way is to set up an internal certificate server (NOT an active directory one for preference), create a certificate, use Active Directory to make it a trusted server, use Active Directory plus Office Templates to make it a Trusted Publisher, digitally sign all your apps and off you go.

We've gone down this route here for exactly the reasons you describe. Because we haven't bought a full trusted certificate, we're only issuing local certificates so we haven't made our certificate server a root server. Basically, I've found it a total pain but realise the need for security.
