Hi,
I have a similar problem but I think I made it past what you were asking about. I have the connection working from sql2000 to ingres and am able to create a view of tables in ingres. Did you create vnodes on your sql server to allow the creation of the odbc system dsn?? Once I was able to create both of those I was able to create a linked server to ingres and then create views on sql server db's to the ingres tables.
