I have a SQL service account that is a member of domain admins. I am building a mechanism that probes the network for new SQL servers. When I identify a new SQL instance I want to use the network account to establish a linked server. If I use a known SQL login on the remote server I get right in, but I my not know any SQL logins on a SQL server I did not build. Thus the need to configure the linked server with network credentials. Any help would be appreciated.

BTW. Microsoft's MSBlaster network scanner is really good for locating hidden SQL Server and MSDE installations. It's amazing how many more instances you can find over osql -L
