i read somewhere that you can set up a link between your sql and other data sources like access and oracle, i have a question can you do thesame with an odbc link to a openvms database?

The primary thing you will need to do is to install the correct drivers on your server. From there you'll need to use the provider information to define the linked server. I've used linked servers to Access, Oracle, DB2 and Sybase and the process is basically the same for each one, but the provider name changes...
