I would like to create a Linked server which has links to a set of dbase III dbf files. I have managed to create a ODB connection, however everytime I create a Linked server I can not sometimes see the table ( at the moment there is only one file) or I get an Error, I am not sure what I am doing wrong.. Has any body used linked servers to connect to dbase files, can you help me please.

What is the error you are getting. And how have you defined your Linked servers connection with regards to your ODBC connection.

When you create your link server, check the following items:
1. Be sure the Link_Server is called the same thing as your data source name in ODBC.
(By the way did you verify your connection works in ODBC?)
2. When setting up the link server, after entering the data source, specify the catalog or database name.
Otherwise, it will default (in SQL the default is the master dB. This has it's uses, if there are multiple dB's on the referenced server. If there is only one that you need to connect to specify the name in the catalog section (of the set up). I hope this helps.
