Hi everyone,
There is a single client on our network using SSIS that has no ability to expand and view the linked server objects. The linked server names are there but the small plus sign and the square box are missing. Any user that logs onto the client experiences the identical problem. Those same users log into other SSMS clients and the plus sign in the square box is present, and the objects within the link are viewable. I've reinstalled the client SSMS, and tried both 9.0.3054 and 9.0.3099 builds. Any ideas . Thanks to everyone for being there to help.

Is the linked server setup using integrated or SQL authentication? Regardless, does the account have access to said objects?

Had this issue on a SQL server that was not at SP2 level. If your SQL servers are not BOTH on SP2, install it and it should work.

Thank for responding Adam. The links are established using remote credentials. This user can log onto other ssis clients and access multiple linked servers and their objects.

Thanks for the reply Warren. The external data sources are the same builds and service packs.

definitely sounds like an authentication issue

Thanks for the input Perry. That's what's odd about this case. The user can log into other clients, open SSIS and view all linked server objects. It's when anyone logs onto this one particular client where access to objects in the linked servers fails.
