I've got a couple of Link Servers set up that post data to tables on two other machines. This is part of a automation simulation.
One of the Link Servers has no issues, it posts to a back up machine.
The other Link Server posts to tables on the active simulation machine. Whenever Siemens Simit software is running, the login times out and the sproc fails to execute. Shut Simit down, and everything works fine.
I'm not sure whats going on. The CPU is not over taxed and the memory usage is not excessive (page file barely used, too).
Any ideas?
Is it possible that the software somehow locks the instance of SQL server?
