  Can anyone tell me what I need to do to solve this error?

  It occurs when trying to query a linked server:

  **

  Server: Msg 7353, Level 16, State 1, Line 1

  OLE DB provider 'SQLOLEDB' supplied inconsistent metadata.

  An extra column was supplied during execution that was not

  found at compile time.

  Thank you for the help. However the solution on from MS simply says apply the latest SP. This error occured on SQL7 SP4?

  I have since found a solution mind you:

  From SP2 onwards, the file: Instcat.sql needs to be applied manually, as per:

  http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;266337

  Just in case anyone else was interested?
