Hi,
We have had a linked server established for some time (accounts involved). Today we started getting the following error. Any idea what is up and how to fix it?
SQL Server Enterprise Manager
Error 11: General network error. Check your network documentation.

Are you able to ping the linked server? You should start the network trace between both servers.

I can pink the IP address from the command prompt. Ping statistics and round trip info was fine.
How would I run the network trace between both servers? Is it a program?

Also, when I tried to do a sp_dropserver @server='NAME' I got the error ... Server: Msg 15190, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_dropserver, Line 44 There are still remote logins for the server 'NAME'. As a result, I'm a little reluctant to drop/delete the link and try to reistablish. Should I have to? Is there a table I can look in to see all logins using this link?
