Legal Laws on Collecting Social Security Number

    Are there any legal laws that tells how business must save Social Security Numbers in a database? Our company is in New York just in case it varies by state.

    I agree with Michael: best to check with legal professionals. And yes, it does vary from state-to-state. For instance, California's data breach laws aren't pretty.
