Hi ,
Any one know any good books or article for a SQL server DBA to learn Oracle 8i from Scratch. My new job responsibility now requires me to manage an Oracle instance also but finds it difficult to get the concepts. May be I am comparing every thing with SQL Server and finds that some concepts are widely apart.
Can any one help me to solve this?.
With thanks

Hi there
I started an Ebook on this a while ago, but thats not going to help you too much 🙂
Anyhow, to be honest, it takes a lot of practice, I would recommend http://www.lazydba.com and stay on their email posting list for a year or two, you will be amazed at the stuff learnt. I would also look at the o'reilly books, perhaps the best editors in the market; as an intro book, consider Oracle DBA 101 series (search amazon).
Cheers

Yes, I used the Oracle DBA 101 series and they helped. Also, the Oracle Complete Reference is a must.
