I am currently training to enable me to change careers and move into the IT industry. Last year I passed 2 of the MS exams, 70-029 & 70-229 (Designing DB using SQL Server 7 & 2000).
As I am very interested in the Data Warehousing side of the business, I now what to train for the MS Datawarehousing with SQL Server exam (no. 70-019).
Looking on the MS site, I've noticed that exam 70-019 will be suspended as of June this year. Consequently I am trying to find which exam will replace this one, as I don't want to train and pay for the exam only for it to be immediately suspended. I've had a look on the MS site but information on this subject is quite vague
Can anybody on here offer any help??? Many Thanx
btw. I'd just like to say that out of the many SQL Server dedicated sites, this one is by far the most interesting and informative, with a good selection of articles. Keep up the good work guys!!!

Microsoft did not put out a replacement for the MS SQL Server 7.0 data warehousing exam. So you will have to find a another exam to take.
I think getting a data warehousing job a as newbie will be a tough sell, especially with this market. You may be better off focusing on the development skills you learned in the first two exams, and picking up some basic administrative skils and learning a programming language such as Visual Basic. Aim for an entry level programming job working with SQL Server and look to moving into data warehousing after you get some experience.
I switched careers 5 years ago..from accounting to IT and I just got a data warehousing job last year.

Thanks for the advice
I've just started learning C# / Visual Studio.NET as well, so I will concentrate on that now.

FYI, the new SQL Server Yukon MCDBA certification will most likely have a core requirement in data warehousing. Last fall, Microsoft circulated a survey that listed the potential exams for the Yukon MCDBA which included:
NEW EXAM: Designing and Implementing Business Intelligence in SQL Server 'Yukon'
Description: Design and implement datamarts (logical and physical), data storage, dimensions, fact tables, cubes, ETL solutions, and reports, build aggregations, and implement incremental updates.
My advice for you is to finish up your MCDBA on SQL Server 2000 by completing a C# or VB exam for your elective and also completing the server OS requirement. When the Yukon MCDBA is released, Microsoft will most likely have an "upgrade exam" to allow current MCDBA's to get credit for the 228 & 229 exams. Good luck !!!
