I recently created a synapse link for Dataverse. The resultant Lake Database in Synapse is powering a number of Power BI reports, however the performance of the lake database is a slower than we had expected.
What steps can I implement to improve the performance of the lake database?

The steps I am aware of are:
1 - find the bottleneck - is it the Lake, is it the network, is it the internet, is it the power BI processing, is it something else?
2 - optimize the bottleneck.
If the lake is the bottleneck, then your best bet is to talk to the lake provider and see what they can offer in terms of support. If it is not the lake being the bottleneck but internet (for example), you would need to talk to your ISP.
The above is all just my opinion on what you should do.
As with all advice you find on a random internet forum - you shouldn't blindly follow it. Always test on a test server to see if there is negative side effects before making changes to live!
I recommend you NEVER run "random code" you found online on any system you care about UNLESS you understand and can verify the code OR you don't care if the code trashes your system.
