We've all heard that 'the more you give the more you get'. Most of our friends are old and retired. Our social group includes my wife, a bilateral amputee, some folks with walkers, and even more with canes. In spite of all you hear about the younger generations, we actually find that many are quite considerate. When our group dines out together, it can be a hassle getting tables moved, cushioned chairs collected, and such. We try to help get food distributed, dirty dishes collected, etc. At several places the wait staff knows us and we try to have personal conversation and encouragement for them and thank them for their attention and good service, including a good word to their floor supervisors. Our group tries to tip quite well, sometimes with a generaous pile of cash in the middle of the table. We regularly compliment and thank folks such as our Amazon and UPS delivery folks and sometimes brew them a cup of Starbucks to go.
We have two young college students who do house cleaning for us every two weeks. Over and above their agreed rate we monthly deposit $200 into their bank account 'off the record' to help with their expenses. You've likely never seen a home cleaner than ours.

Nice to hear. I think taking care of people locally is important. I'll have two chances today, as two different events out later with friends. We're buying froyo for the team we coach, and get to tip the people working, then dinner with friends. Hugs and nice tips for the staff.

Thanks. Usually newbies do get the grunt work. Managers are rarely on-site when hours are rough. Hang in there.
