Boy Howdy! Like Gail and some of the other heavy hitters, I've had to temporarily back way off on the time I can spend on forums and I'm happy to say that no one even noticed because of all the rising stars stepping up to the plate. Heh... and with a bittersweet sigh of relief I find that most of the questions are already answered by the time I do get to take a swing at a couple. Well done one and all!

I have to agree with Jeff. I have found I don't have as much time right now to hang out on the forums. Guess I am going to try and do a bit more writing as a way to make up for the lack of activity on SSC. Have a few good ideas going through my head, we'll see what come out.

As the old adage goes, "Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach him how to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime". So it goes with mentoring the next generation of SQL teachers and folks like you, Steve, help foster that. With all of the technologies available nowadays (blogs, twitter, forums, LiveMeetings, SQLSaturdays, etc.) it's easier than ever to give back to this great community. Big ups to everyone who day in, day out comes to the forums and helps educate and grow the community!

I have found this site and SQL Saturday and the like extremely valuable. I contribute when I can, but usually someone with more experience has already come up with a good answer. Thanks to everyone that contributes and makes this site such a wonderful resource for SQL Server.

Much the same as Jeff and Lynn, time is short these days and it is nice to see so many people so heavily involved in the community.

Being relatively new to the community I can not claim much responsibility for helping anyone yet but I would like to add that having been in many areas of IT and on many different boards I have founf the SSC community to be one of the best around. I have never had a question I have not been able to get an answer too and I have never gotten the snarky type of responce that is so normally typical on other IT boards. So to a community that has been so willing to help me on many occasstions I send my personal thanks.
Dan
If only I could snap my figures and have all the correct indexes apear and the buffer clean and.... Start day dream here.

Ya know, I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks that. Some of the boards are just downright nasty to their "patrons".
Steve Jones set an excellent precident on this forum a long time ago. If someone gets nasty (not to be confused with "firm") here, they're usually quickly snuffed out by the "collective" of Ninjas that frequent this fine place.

Heck, I was involved in those and I can't remember much of what happened there without going back through it. Good thing it isn't worth it.

Do I even want to KNOW what's contained in that thread or am I better off staying ignorant? 😉
