Can any one give me Key Responsibility Areas for SQL Server DBA ?

There's a lot here. You might search for or read about the DBA job. However, here's a starting list
- ensure backups and restores are functioning and being tested
- secure data, ensure unauthorized access to data.
- provide efficient response time from the database servers for clients
- ensure the database is available according to your SLA.

It really depends on what kind of DBA we're talking about. I'd suggest getting a copy of Craig Mullins book, "Database Administration." It's one of the best overviews of just the job and nothing else that I've ever read. He does a great job of covering the different types of DBAs and what kind of responsibilities each is likely to have.

Service Level Agreement. What level of service do you agree to? Will you ensure the database server is up 99% of the time? 99.9%?
