we have a third party app that is absolutley horrendous with this. About 1 or 2 times a week the whole app drags to a halt because one of their processes (often a sleepting one) is blocking everything in sight. There is simply no other way to get the users back online than finding and killing the original SPID. We've been over this with their tech support and they keep wringing their hands.
