Hi folks,
I'm trying to install Katmai Developer Edition x86 on a Win 2003 SP2 server, and I get the following error. I tried to capture a screenshot, but it didn't work. I'll write message here.
"Error 1706. Setup cannot find the required files. Check your connection to the network, or CD-ROM drive. For other potential solutions to this problem, see 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\1033\SETUP.CHM'".
Anyone else get this?
Thanks in advance.

I had the same issue. It is due to Microsoft splitting the install media into a Server components folder and a Tools component folder. If you run the install from the Server folder, you cannot install the Tools, and v-v. You will need to run 2 separate installs, 1 for server components, 1 for Tools. If you look carefully in the install notes and know this issue will arise, you can see that the problem is documented.
Alternatively you can try the same solution for this that works for SQL 2005. 1) Copy the Tools folder to your media folder on disk, 2) Copy the Server folder to the same media folder, 3) Run your install, and you can get both server and tools components installed in a single process.
