  • Well, I was going to say that I thought the name of the country at that time was "England" and that the island's name is Great Britain, but Wikipedia has this entry:

    "Section 1 of both of the 1707 Acts of Union declare that England and Scotland are "United into One Kingdom by the Name of Great Britain"."

    So, I not only got the correct answer, I learned something afterwards, too!
