My SQL Maint Plan jobs suddenly started "hanging." They complete, but never finish, so the subsequent jobs never get started, because they are all still "Executing..." I can reset them by stopping and restarting the Agent, but I really need to fix this, as I don't want to spend the rest of my life stopping and restarting the Agent to get the transaction log backup job to run.
Any idea what has happened?

Not heard of this before I'm afraid. You could try recreating them, or even writing the SQL that performs the same tasks.
What is the main job doing. Try creating a blank maint plan, and move each part of the maint plan over, a bit at a time until you've either completely recreated it, or found which part causes the new maint plan to hang.

I turned off mail notification and they now complete. Now, to figure out what needs to be done to fix mail.
