Hi Guys,
Hoping someone can help me, I recently installed SP2 for SQL Server 2005 on a couple of my servers, since the installation the maintenance plans just continue running?? They appear to be backing up the files but just keep running and running ? This is the same for a number of maintenace plans I have running across 4 instances?
Any ideas?
Would appreciate any assistance.
Thanks
Kerry

Hi,
You may check if there are any blocks being created while these jobs run. See if there are any other jobs (optimization jobs like reindexing; consistency checks) running at the same time.
Cancel these long running jobs; keep a log file to record the execution ; run the job and monitor....

Kerry,
There are some known issues regarding SP2 and maintenance plans. There were covered here last year.
There are also security flaws in SP2 which need to be patched.
If you are able, it may be better to apply SP3 to ensure you don't miss any other relevant patches

Most of the SP2 issues are resolved by applying cumulative hotfix
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933097
followed by the additional hotfix
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934459
to resolve CHECKDB problems.
