Job/DTS logging

  • Good Day all,

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question, or if it should be in the DTS area but here goes.  We are using jobs to execute user requested data moves.  I have to make it work this way as that decision is out of my hands.  Anyway I want to set up a job step in our DTS packages to dynamically control the logging of DTS results.  So what I was thinking of adding was a Activex script task to the job prior to the DTS step that would change the logging of the DTS to be the same as the originatingserver for the job.

    Thank you for any assistance,

  • I'm not sure how you would do this in DTS 2000, but you should check out SSIS (DTS 2005).  It has ways of changing the configuration at runtime, so you can dynamically use different connections, including logging parameters.

  • I'm really looking forward to the release of 2005 and SSIS, it seems to solve all the deficiencies of DTS.
