What is the minimum permissions that a login needs in order to run a job. Trying to streamline job owners to one account.

I may not be remembering correctly how to do this in SQL 2000, but I think a non-sysadmin can only start a job he/she owns. A sysadmn member can start any job.

Yep, thats what I am finding out. But do I have to find out if the login has permission to backup and restore or what ever the job is doing?

Yes. You may want to find info about SQL Agent proxy accounts. There's not much in BOL, but you can find articles and threads that talk about it on sqlservercentral.com.
