  • if you are using the sa password on the registration of the server on EM right click on it, select edit registration properties and update sa password and also make sure that automatically start the service is unchecked

  • Thanks,

when I changed to old password back it started up

So I will try to Uncheck and let see if works....but what if some one forget the old pasword how to start the Agent like on this case I cannot able to start until I put my old password.

    Thanks

  • Nita,

That setting will try to start it but because it should be started already as a service it won't do anything. The messages that you see is because it has to log in first to show the EM Server components and because the login was incorrect you got those failure messages.

  • Nita,

I would guess that the SQL Server Agent is attempting to log in to the SQL Server as sa.

To verify, right-click on the SQL Server Agent in Enterprise Manager and select Properties.

You will then see a Connection tab. You'll likely have this set for "Use SQL Server Authentication" with sa as the user. Just enter your new sa password here and it should work.

    Hope this helps.
