Job activity monitor - start time of currently running job?

  • Is there anywhere in the SSMS to see the start time of a currently running job, currently running it's first step, without needing to run a query?

If not, why would Microsoft decide to not show it in the job activity monitor? I suppose it would take someone from Microsoft to give an official answer to that (let me know if you do work for them and have any inside info), but if anyone has their own idea about it then I'm interested to hear it.

SSMS = Sql Server Management Studio

  • I sort of found an answer- On the Job Step Properties --> Advanced, if you check the box for "Log to table", then once it starts running, you can click the View button to the right of that checkbox to open the log which shows the start time. What a hassle, just to check what time the job started.
