  • It's absolutely possible. At one point my desktop had SQL 2005, SQL 2008 and SQL 2008 R2 on it.

  • With all MS products, install them in release order.

  • Although not required - I would recommend patching to the latest patch level for each instance before installing the next. 2005 is at SP4 and you should have at least SP3 installed before installing the next version.
