Issue while Installing SQL SERVER 2005 Enterprise edition

  • Hi

My system has Visual studio 2005 installed along with that SQL SERVER 2005 is also installed with min.

Now I want to install SQL SERVER 2005 Enterprise edition on my system.

But while configuration checking..in edition change check...it gave me warning..the message saying to change an existing instance of microsoft sql server 2005 to a different edition of sql server 2005 you must run sql server 2005 setup from the command prompt and include the SKUUPGRADE=1 param.

Then also I pressed next but in the list of components to be installed only the Workstation components where enabled rest all were disabled.

Hence went to the command prompt and typed setup skuupgrade=1..

    the same again.

Next went to the control panel..On Microsoft sql server instance opted the change but it didn't ask me for the new one its installing the existing sql server only...anyway no change...

One more thing...My Operating system in microsoft vista...In Sql server Edition Operating System compatibility check...prompted with a message "Some components of this edition of SQL Server are not supported on this operating system. "

    Please help me out.

    Thanks in advance

    Sree

  • Your best bet is to google skuupgrade=1 and 2005 the doc isn't real clear.

Also what OS are you running?
