Is Visual Studio needed on a Reporting Services server?

  I am wondering if Visual Studio 2005 is needed on a Reporting Services 2005 server.  I assume it that it is not needed on the server to make Reporting Services work.  I assume that it is part of the install for report development purposes.  Is this correct?  We do report development locally on PCs which are patched with the correct VS SP.  I mainly want to know to see if Visual Studio needs to be patched on the Reporting Server itself.
