Is this possible?

  • We have person A and B

Person A has sql 2000 install to his pc

Person B doesn't have sql 2000 in his pc

Person A created a batch file which is composed of an osql statement. Can Person B run the batch file in his pc and the file will connect to Person A's pc for the program to execute? Any other workaround for this kind of scenario?

  • 1) you could install a connectivity client (but you'll have to check if that contains OSQL)

    2) as a workaround, you could "remote submit" the bat file using sysinternals psexec.

  • I think the 1st solution will not be applicable since he will not be permitted to install a client connectivity. I've read some articles about psexec I think this will help thanks a lot 🙂
