Hi Everyone
I have been informed by DBA of an organisation from whom we have purchased our product that it is a bad idea to script publication in SQL 2005. When you script up the publication in SQL2005 it doesn’t include all the necessary settings and you will find replication does not work properly.
Does anyone know if there is any problem with creating publication scripts in sql server 2005?
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

As far as I know, NO. There are no problems. Just make sure that you modify the scripted file to use the right user, server names etc
But double check. Test it out in a test environment.

Thanks a lot again roy.
I have used replication scripts so many times before and they seem to be functioning fine as far as all the required bits are changed to make it run on another server.
I just wanted to get opinions on this before i can go back to our supplier and give them a bit of stick for conveying the incorrect information. 🙂
Thanks again!

I find that creating the replication scripts REALLY speeds up recreation publications. I do sometimes have to add things like passwords.

Certainly.
Thanks SQL DBA 808.
