Is there any Compact Comparison List amongst 2008, 2008 SP1, 2008 R2 and Denali; is possible? Specially listing the main DATABASE Engine changes.
So management can be convinced that these are different versions and not mere marketing traits!!
Thanks for your time.

Usually the service packs are used to solved small bugs or introduce some features that would not make it a new product version.

2008 and 2008 SP1 are the same version, just a service pack.
2008 R2 is a new version with a significant number of BI changes, minimal database engine changes. There are lots of list of changes - google 2008 R2 new features and you'll have a lot of reading.
Denali is the next major version (like 2005-2008) and it looks like there are lots and lots of changes, but it's still in early CTP so hard to say for sure what's in and what's not. Again, google "SQL Denali changes" and you'll have a fair amount of reading to do.
