Is there a ''Read Only'' Version of SQL Enterprise Manager

  • We have SQL Server 2000. Is there a 'read only' version of SQL Enterprise Manager? Or are there any settings I can set to make SQL EM 'read only' for all database objects? I want a user to be able to only view tables (I know permission can be set here), SPs, dts packages, jobs, etc.

    Thanks in advance, Kevin

  • EM honours the permissions that have been granted to a user. So if a user has select or db_datareader then that is all EM can do.

However, there will be issues with DTS and jobs. Unless you are a SQL Sysadmin, you will only be able to see jobs owned by you. Can't remember off the top of my head about DTS packages but I think you will have issues there as well.
