I only hv the sql client running in my lcoal machine. Do i need a licensed copy(in my local machine) to deploy the report in my own local server...

Check on the Configuration Manager that both SQL Server and Reporting Services are started. Also check that IIS is started.
Can you see the main directory when you browse to http://localhost/reportserver with Internet Explorer?

The error you're getting assumes that you're trying to publish to a local IIS installation. In order to do that you'd need SSRS installed on that machine. You can configure SSRS to use a remote database engine however.
Regardless of how you configure it - the machine running SSRS would have to be licensed for SQL Server (so - with the remote database server, that's 2 licenses + however many CAL's you need for the report users+however many CAL's are required to connect to DB).
Here's the BOL on the installation piece: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143703.aspx%5B/url%5D

As Matt said you need SQL Server running to run the BID developed reports however there is free alternative that comes with the SQL Server Express Advanced Tool Kit version it is a limited features reporting services you can use with both Winform and Webform applications. Try the link below for details.

That version of SQL Server is for development only you cannot deploy that code, when it comes time to run that code in production you will need the option Matt offered you. The reason the developer edition is under $40 on the web full the Enterprise edition cost many thousand dollars. Hope this helps.

Thanks Gift.
This is wat i hv understood
I dont need licenced copy of sql server to deploy reports in my local machine(for development purpose), but i need licensed copy of sql server to deploy in a remote server(production).

Remote is not the operative word because you can connect to the developer edition in a remote box if you are developing. You cannot use it for production local or remote.

No - you get to use the developer licensing (again - about 40$ per copy) for your development needs, and you get to use "real" licensing for production, (unless you manage to be able to run your reporting from the crippled Reporting Services in a SQLExpress installation). Like gift pointed out - doesn't matter WHERE you or the server are.
