is it possible? (sp_trace_create)

    Is it possible to use sp_trace_create to write the results to a table (just like sql profiler) instead to file?

    I checked bol but can't find anything.

    I know there is ::fn_trace_gettable but it always returns an error message if the trace has not been stopped yet.

    I read somwhere else that it was possible to write trace to table without sql profiler but it was quite difficult but unfortunately that was where the conversation ended.  I am just wondering if anyone knows about it.

    Unfortunately you cannot.  You must trace to a file and then load it to a table later.  You can do the table load manually or through scripts.
