How do you configure the cluster resources to be able to use Distributed Transactions ?
Documentation ( 01/15/2014 ) is unclear and doesn't show a working solution.
Begin Distributed Transaction fails !
Msg 8501, Level 16, State 3, Line 12
MSDTC on server 'VirtSQLServer\MyInstanceName' is unavailable.

Double check these settings on each node.
Configure MSDTC network settings:Open Component Services (dcomcnfg)
Navigate to Component Services > Computers > My Computer > Distributed Transaction Coordinator
Right-click on "Local DTC" and select "Properties"
Go to the "Security" tab
Enable the following options:Network DTC Access
Allow Inbound/Outbound
Enable TIP (if needed)
Enable XA Transactions (if needed)
Also see Windows Firewall port 135 is open on each node.

indeed.
Those settings have been activated.
DTC service has been stopped and started and is on network service
Still Begin distributed transaction fails

FWIW: We re-installed the OS and rebuilt the cluster.
Now it works as it should

Testing a bit more, it turns out, once you add a clustered MSDTC resource and remove it, it start throwing this error when running "Begin Distributed Transaction"
Even putting back the clustered MSDT resource doesn't fix the issue !!
Same player shoot again ....
Reïnstall both VM and the clustered sql server instance.
( we have now planned for a new production cluster another migration to get to a clean situation )
