I/O Error from corrupted SAN directory

  • Hi,

About 2 months ago I added a 2 SAN volumes to enable the expansion of 2 DB's and the method adopted was setting a new filename and location to the SAN.

Unfortunately, the SAN volume corrupted and one of the volumes did not recover

The error was "823 I/O error 2(error not found) detected during read at offset..."

Is there anyway of recovering from this error or is it best to 'Restore' from last known backup?

  • Restore  from the last known good backup.

Also was your database split between local disk and SAN disk ? If it was then you are almost guaranteed the same issue in the future. All file for an individual database need to be on either local disk or SAN disk, not a mixture thereof.
