IO Completion Listener -- Event 17887

    I am getting this alert regularly in our environment. Does anyone have any clue about it:

    IO Completion Listener (0x110c) Worker 0x00D0E0E8 appears to be non-yielding on Node 0. Approx CPU Used: kernel 0 ms, user 0 ms, Interval: 35000.

    What is the impact of this alert and how can it be controlled? I am running SQL 2005 SP1.

    This is many times a problem with the disk sub system. I would suggest you contact product support.  Diagnosing the cause of an IO completion stall requires several logs from the server and analysis of any created stack dumps. Better to contact them now and have them review the stack dumps and logs before you find out it is forsure a disk problem when it fails.
