The distribution agent will not start producing this error. sql2k sp4. I'm pretty sure it's a server config issue as the replication works fine elsewhere, so any hints as to where to look would be gratefully received.

google it. the message appears to be associated with a lot of failures. You will probably have to look for additional errors or symptoms.

been there done that, that's why I've finally posted. I'm pretty sure it's down to group policy but like most things you have to be able to prove it. Most the google postings referred to sp3 and none actually had an explanation!
