I'm a big fan of Internet Movie Database, but there are a few points on which it could be improved...so I intend to make my own using SQL Server 2005 and .NET. I ask the wisdom of the many here at this site to help me get this right, and this is an open invitation to any other movie fanatics like myself who would like to get involved in the project to make an even better movie database.
Main points of improvement:
1. Internet Movie Database is impartial. My movie database will be very partial. The database maintains a user's movie preferences and can filter query results based on the user's tastes. The database identifies groups of users with similar preferences and can filter the display of movie ratings by preference groups, so a romantic comedy that has a general site rating of 5.2 might score a 7.8 among users who tend to like romantic comedies.
2. My movie database maintains a list of movies a user has seen, and based on the user's ratings of those movies attempts to find movies the user will like but hasn't yet seen. In this way the database maintains an ongoing Top 10 (and beyond) favorite films for every user.
Does anyone have any links to database design information for the IMDB, such as entity relationship diagrams or in-depth technical discussion of similar project or software?

You might be able to get some info from the links at the wikipedia entry at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imdb. There's a link to IMDB interfaces in the article.
