Interactive sort doesn''t work for multiple sub-reports

  • Hey all, quick question…

I have a report, which contains two nearly identical sub reports.  In the IDE, when I test the containing report, each of the sub-reports works fine, in particular, the interactive sort feature works for both.  When I deploy the reports to the test server (desktop running Windows XP, SQL Server 2005 Developer’s Edition, and SQL Reporting Services 2005, reports are served as web pages), the interactive sort feature seems to work only for one of the sub-reports.  The other sub-report causes a postback, and refreshes, but does not return sorted.

    Any ideas?

  • hi dan,

Why don't you find the difference between the two sub reports.when you say both are working individually..interchange the two queries as they look similar and just check whether they are working properly with the necessary modifications.cross check them and find the difference. We can't say more than this until we see your Report

    Thank you

  • Hello Raj, thanks for the reply. The problem doesn't seem to be with an individual report, but when I have more than one sub-report on a parent report. For whatever reason, when I click on the sort arrows for one sub-report, it sorts fine. But when I click on the other sub-report, it doesn't sort. Either sub-report will sort fine, as long as you sort it first. For some reason, it seems as though SRS is only allowing one sub-report to sort at a time. If I refresh the page and I sort the other report first, it will sort fine, and the other won't sort. I have several other reports which are exhibiting similar behavior, so I'm wondering if it is merely a limitation of SRS...
