Hi all,
I am a masters student interested in exporing the above project. However, I was challenged with the issue of GIS technology having already integrated data warehousing, could someone come to my rescue ? may suggest any references I coulf try out.

Andrew,
http://www.esri.com would be a good place to start. One paper of note:

Business Objects makes a toolkit for ESRI here's a whitepaper http://whitepaper.informationweek.com/cmpinformationweek/search/viewabstract/75268/index.jsp I saw it demonstrated and it was pretty neat, then I priced it out and was hit with sticker shock. I played with MS MapPoint 2002 a little, there is an activex plug-in available for it, that allows you to connect to a dw (very simple with Analysis Services) and make geographic pie charts ... of your data. It is not as powerful, but I got Mappoint for free at an XP launch and activeX control was free, so I got exactly what I paid for. I threw out the concept of using it to my managers/end users and got a whopping response of: "Why? When we need the data we will ask you for it".
I suspect that this field is not gaining too much ground as it is very expensive and quite frankly, just like lots of other dw projects, managers simply won't use it and us IT guys would rather query the data, then be stuck clicking on maps.
Good luck
