Instance login failure

    Hi,

    i have created a new instance in with mixed mode authentication. while i am connecting to SSMS with new instance its getting error. the error is

    could not find a login matching the name provided

    error 18456 and state 5

    Are you certain you have the username typed in correctly?

    Or if this is a windows login, is the login a member of any of the Active directory groups that has access to the server?

    Did you add the login when you created the instance? If not you will probably need to log in as sa and grant the permissions that way.

    state 5 is definitely invalid login.
